I saw BTE at Celebrate Fairfax, Fairfax County’s annual spring/summer festival. What a great 90’s band! Just listening to all their old radio hits from my teenage years brought tears to my eyes, a feeling of nostalgia to my heart, and a warm, tingly sensation to my loins. Just kidding about the loins part. If you’ve seen the infamous Saturday Night Live “cowbell” skit with Christopher Walken and Will Ferrell, you might appreciate the fact that the band called a member of the audience up on stage and gave him a cowbell to play while they jammed out the old Blue Oyster Cult song. What made the whole thing so awesome, though, was the fact that Blue Oyster Cult was actually playing at that very moment on another stage across the fairgrounds. Not too shabby. Overall the show was decent, but I’ve definitely seen better. I gave the performance a 3.5 on the mighty scale of awesomeness, mainly because of the lack of spontaneous combustion happening in my crotch.
