In short, it was a painfully short performance from openers Anberlin, who happen to be my favorite band of all times. They rocked out a six- or seven-song set and had to leave the stage, making way for the All-American Rejects, who played second. AAR lead singer Tyson Ritter looked and acted blazed out of his mind the entire show. He stumbled around and ridiculed the audience, among other jackass moves, for the duration of their performance. I was not impressed, and although I kind of like a couple of their songs, seeing them this way made me dislike the band more. Finally, Taking Back Sunday closed the show with a decent performance. Although I didn’t know much of their material, I still enjoyed their stuff and realized I knew one or two of their songs from the radio. A friend who knows them well told me the singer wasn’t hitting a lot of the high notes as he normally would, but his mic-twirling tricks were pretty cool. AAR brought the show’s rating way down for me, but thankfully the other two bands kept it from being a total wash.
